The Hotel was opened in 1893 and re-opened under Belmond in 2009. Every year during the winter season it is undergoing a soft refurbishment. Belmond Hotel Caruso is set in a renovated building of the 11th century and is perched on a sea-view cliff on the road to the Amalfi Coast. The interiors preserve the rich heritage of the Palace of the 11th century: various types of arches, magnificent restored frescoes of the 18th century, accidentally discovered during the restoration of the hotel, as well as floors tiled with antique handmade tiles. The spacious rooms and suites feature traditional furniture in the Neapolitan style, some of them contain antique furniture of the 18th-19th centuries and reproduction of items of the 11th century Palace. Belmond Hotel Caruso offers restaurants serving traditional Neapolitan and regional Italian cuisine, a cosy piano bar with live music, panoramic heated swimming pool under the open sky, a fully equipped Wellness centre and fitness centre.
