Wilderness Safaris Hotels
Jao Camp opened its doors under Wilderness Safaris management in 1999.
The luxurious Jao Camp is located in a private Zhao domain, surrounded by forests and meadows, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful lodges in the Okavango River Delta. The Park is home to elephants, zebras, wild buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, a lot of fish is to be found in river’s waters.
The camp consists of 9 luxurious, spacious and designer - decorated tents, each is handmade one. They are located in the shade of the trees on wooden platforms, raised above the ground. Each room has a sundeck with beautiful views of the surrounding nature. There are as well parquet floors and furniture made of rosewood, elegant mosquito curtains of transparent linen fabric, ceramic washbasin, showers and a hair dryer.
On site there are 2 swimming pools, Boma-restaurant, wine cellar, SPA with a vast selection of massages, a gym and library. The camp belongs to the Premier level. This applies to everything - both the level of accommodation and food, service and quality Safari. Depending on the water level in the Okavango Delta, the Lodge offers both land and water safaris. From May to September there is an influx of crystal clear water from the Delta, and the Lodge starts to pay more attention to aquatic Safari. From October to April the water level in the Delta is reduced, and meadows turn into Savannah.
The Lodge is located on a large, remote island on the border of the Moremi reserve, 135 km (35 minute flight) from Maun Airport
