The North Island is one of the two main Islands of New Zealand, separated by the Сook Strait from the South Island, that is bigger but less populated. This is where the main centers of the country are located, including two largest cities in New Zealand: Auckland and Wellington, the capital of the country. Auckland is located on the territory of the Auckland volcanic region and within its boundaries there are about 48 extinct volcanoes which have survived to this day in the form of mountains, lakes, lagoons and Islands. And incredibly beautiful and cozy Wellington will amaze you with an abundance of bridges, tunnels, parks and squares, as well as with great architecture. One of the most interesting buildings in the capital is the round parliament building, which citizens call the beehive. Also note St. Paul's Cathedral and the Botanical garden on the side of a high mountain. In addition to two major megacities with vibrant nightlife, luxury restaurants and cozy bars, The North Island will impress you with its sandy beaches, ideal for both surfing and diving, snow-covered slopes and beautiful lakes.
