Port Douglas

Port Douglas is located in the North-East of Australia, in the Queensland state and traces its history back to 1877, when gold was found nearby. Over time, the city lost its importance, and the hurricane of 1911 almost completely destroyed it. A fishing village with a hundred inhabitants began to revive in the 80s of the XX century. Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort hotel was built here and the destination became popular again. Port Douglas has a favorable tropical climate with hot summers and mild winters with heavy rainfall between January and March. From here, you can take a tour of the Great Barrier Reef for diving/snorkeling or to visit the Daintree National Park, where you can meet the most incredible representatives of Australian fauna and flora. In the city itself there are many golf courses, good restaurants, trendy boutiques, bookstores and galleries, there is a helicopter pad and a museum of shipwrecks, where you can find out the stories of the most famous shipwrecks on the reefs.
